THAPALA CHAKKALU
Tapala chakkalu are evening tea time snacks in andhra pradesh, these may differ from region to region like in some regions they may add grated vegetables to the dough or they use senaga pindi (besan flour) or jowar flour instead of rice flour. But below is the basic recipe with simple ingredients.
I added soaked chana dal, soaked moong dal can also be added. Finely chopped onions can also be added but if we add onion they will last only upto 6 to7 hours whereas without onions they will last upto 2 days. Thapala chakkalu are best served with tea or as a snack in the evening with mango pickle or ketchup.

INGREDIENTS:
¼ cup chana dal
1 ½ cup rice flour
3 green chillies
3 inches ginger
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp cumin seeds
1 ½ tbsp salt
400 ml water(approx)
½ cup oil
INSTRUCTIONS:
Firstly soak the dal for 15 -20 min
In a blender jar add roughly chopped green chillies,3 inches ginger, 1 tbsp cumin seeds,1 1/2 tbsp salt and blend it into a coarse paste.
In a bowl add 1 ½ cup rice flour,2 tbsp butter, soaked dal and the blended paste.
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly adding water when needed until it forms into a soft dough.
Make the dough into small portions and keep them aside.
Now place a pan on the stove, add 2 tbsp oil to it and let it heat on low to medium flame.
Now take some oil and apply it to your palm, take a portion into your hand and press it with your fingers till it is the size of your wish and as thin as possible.
Once the oil is hot, place the thapala chakkalu gently on the pan and fry them till they turn golden brown.
Add little bits of oil to the pan before placing the thapala chakkalu and fry them one by one.
